Coffee and tea are a major part of our society and how we live. In the US, most of us love our coffee, but in Great Britain, tea is the preferred drink. Some people live off of coffee, some prefer the comforts of tea, some love both, and there are even a few who take a can of Mountain Dew or Monster over either. I think this often speaks to the personality of people. It's something that I have been observing for several years now, especially since I married a Mountain Dew drinker. Let me break down my observations.
Energy drink lovers:
My husband is a wee bit ADD, easily distracted by things, and my Pastor, also a Mtn Drew Drinker gets easily distracted when he's preaching. I have a student who doesn't function unless she has a Monster. She tends to be a very intense person, like my pastor, also easily distracted. These people tend to only drink energy drinks, and shun coffee or tea. These people often put up "blinders" in order to stay focused on a task. They are the ones people call on to get a job done right. However, they can be quite forgetful, and need things to remind them to stay on task.
Soda lovers:
These people just want a quick drink on the go. They are so busy, they don't have time to make themselves coffee or tea. They are the people to take charge, and they get things done. They love their lists, and often, others have to remind them to take it easy and slow down. These people often come off as uncaring, but this is almost never the case. They care so much, they don't have the time to show that they do care. Many times they are hard to get to know, and those who do know them well have to remind them to take a moment to slow down, to show others they do care, and to not work themselves to death!
Coffee lovers:
Now I've noticed coffee drinkers come in a variety of shapes and forms, and they are all very particular about their coffee. Personally, when I have coffee, it must be sweet, however some people like theirs strong or even black. Those who like theirs strong or black are people to don't like change, don't cut corners, and are very focused. Those who like flavored or sweet coffee are the kind of people who pay attention to detail, and tend to be very creative or artistic. Then there are those who have to have coffee to function, and they fall into either category, strong or sweet coffee drinkers. These people are often not morning people, and will drink several coffees at once to get going. These people are planners, using each cup of coffee to help plot out their days. Next there are people who drink coffee through out the day to keep them going. These are your hard workers, the ones who need coffee to stay focused through out the day. Then you have your afternoon coffee drinkers, who use coffee as a comfort drink at the end of a long day. These people often enjoy curling up with a good book or just some nice conversation with those they love. These people are personable, and imaginative. You might fall into several of the categories, as I do, and I believe that it speaks to the depth of someone's personality.
Tea lovers:
One of my girl friends here at school will only drink tea. However she enjoys a variety of teas. People who love tea are creative, go-getters, and love life. They see that there is more to God's creation then the mundane, and want to show the world God's beauty. No matter how they take their tea, hot or cold, sweet or bitter, sugar and creme, or just honey, they all have one thing in common: an appreciation for the finer things in life. They are a classic, enjoying a love for the old blended evenly with an appreciation of the new.
Coffee and Tea lovers:
This is where I fall into. These people are flexible, easily change their mind, whether for better or worse. They want to make sure that everyone is okay, and that everyone gets along. They are slow to anger, but when they do they might stay cross for a while. They want to do everything, and might get overwhelmed at times. They might seem tired, but it's only because they want to get so much done.
What have you observed? Do you see any of this to be true? Let me know your thoughts!
